Community Commitments

Agreements

  • Diversity, accessibility, and inclusivity are paramount to our goals and we are dedicated to being a safe space for participants of all backgrounds, abilities, and skill levels. We will actively maintain an environment where the spectrum of individual identity is recognized, valued, and respected and all event participants are asked to share in that commitment. Any actions outside of this policy will begin a transformative justice process. More info available upon request and we invite discussion about this dynamic policy. Much of this language and inspiration comes from Concentrating Chaos.

Knowledge Acknowledgment

  • Emma is committed to anti oppressive practice and decolonization in all offerings.  This is informed by teachings and experiences with indigenous wisdom of deep listening, Zen Buddhism, Jewish mysticism, and a personal, intuitive spirituality practice. Emma continues to learn about systemic oppression and healing through relationships, training experiences, and community organizing and credits the labor and contributions of Black people, Indigenous people, People of Color, fat people, queer and trans people, disabled people, and other marginalized people.

  • Workshop profits are redistributed to neighborhood mutual aid organizations through Chicagoland Food Sovereignty Coalition. Read their Community Agreements to learn more.

Accessibility

  • Commitment to respond to all accommodation requests and feedback.

  • Workshop supply stipends and sliding scale services are available upon request.

  • Services are currently virtual unless otherwise noted

  • Masking and distancing is encouraged and discussed before events to meet participant needs

Land Acknowledgment

  • This practice and all events are located on the ancestral and unceded homelands of the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations. Many other tribes such as the Miami, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac, and Fox also called this area home. Emma is grateful for Anishinaabe teachings and stories that support them in being a guest steward of this land.

Feedback on community commitments is welcomed and encourage!
