This Crowded Table
The Highwomen released the song, Crowded Table, in 2019 and it quickly became my manifesting mantra for the collective care I was needing and seeking in my relationships and care work. “I want a house with a crowded table to bring us back together when the day is done” I would repeat to myself in seasons of despair, loneliness, disillusionment, and uncertainty.
Three years later, it would become the name of this practice where I gather with clients, community members, care and justice workers, colleagues, and friends. The table is sometimes a metaphor, sometimes internal, and often real and tangible as we come together to share, learn, reflect, dream and scheme. “Everyone’s a little broken and everyone belongs” as we grow and gather together.
